Alex Brau is an experienced finance and operations executive with over 20 years of leadership experience across Professional Sports, Construction, Staffing, Healthcare Services, and Logistics. His background spans startups, high-growth environments, acquisitions, and complex multi-entity organizations, with deep expertise in GAAP reporting, financial systems, capital structuring, and operational transformation.
Alex’s career accelerated through senior leadership roles within large, highly visible organizations, including MasTec, Inc. and Inter Miami CF, where he was hand-selected to build and lead finance and operations functions during periods of rapid growth and organizational change. At Inter Miami CF, he helped launch the franchise, established all financial and accounting infrastructure, managed a nine-entity structure, supported private equity transaction planning, and played a key role in financing and operating a new 25,000-seat stadium. His experience includes guiding organizations through first-time audits, complex financings, and enterprise-wide system implementations.
Most recently, Alex served as Chief Financial Officer of Ascendo Resources, an award-winning, minority-owned staffing and consulting firm, where he was appointed as the company’s first CFO and a key member of the senior leadership team. In this role, he led GAAP compliance initiatives, implemented ASC 842, secured and refinanced debt facilities, drove over $1.4 million in cost savings, and strengthened financial transparency across subsidiaries. He also led the financial and operational turnaround of HiveHub, a logistics startup, building the finance function from the ground up and materially improving cash flow through lease negotiations, financing, and operational discipline.
Today at Rework Capital, Alex partners with founder-led and investor-backed businesses that are entering critical growth phases. His focus is helping companies professionalize their finance and operations functions, prepare for institutional capital, and navigate complex strategic decisions. He does not work with early-stage lifestyle businesses; instead, he advises organizations that require senior-level financial leadership, disciplined execution, and board-ready insight.
Alex brings a passion for building scalable finance organizations, implementing strong controls and reporting, improving cash flow and working capital, and serving as a strategic partner to executive teams. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida, holds a Master of Accounting from Florida International University, and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
